Mark West is our new General Manager, here is a little about him:

Mark was born and raised in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Mark has an associate’s degree in law enforcement from Northern Oklahoma College. He worked at K-mart for 7 years, starting as a stock boy/garden shop clerk and later climbing up the ladder to Area loss control manager over two stores. Mark left K-Mart to go back to school in industrial safety at the University of Central Oklahoma, one day while driving to class he heard a radio commercial for a horticulture class at OSU in OKC. He enrolled in the class and everything clicked, the next semester he transferred to OSU in Stillwater and began his journey to a bachelor’s degree in Horticulture. Mark worked for the OSU Botanical Gardens and assisted with Oklahoma Gardening tv show that airs on OETA, when the show host said, “I dug this hole to plant this tree/shrub” it was Mark that dug it 😊. While at the botanical gardens Mark was referred for a part time job with Lacebark Inc, working for Dr. Carl E Whitcomb. Dr. Whitcomb was and is an outstanding mentor to Mark offering real world experience with propagation, production, and plant breeding that cannot be found in the academic setting.

Cedar Valley evolved from a B&B farm to a liner operation. Cedar Valley has shipped millions of tree liners from seed, rooted cutting, and grafting all over the US and even in to Mexico. After the crash in 2008 Cedar Valley branched out into annuals, perennials, grasses and groundcovers. Cedar Valley closed its doors in 2019 and became Cultivate Ada, a medical marijuana facility. Mark stayed on as the grower until a full-time grower was chosen.

In February of 2020 Mark and Tabitha, his wife, moved to Oregon, where the growing is easy, after about 2 years they decided to try something different and after a little match making thanks to David Goodson Mark is now with Hawksridge Farms looking forward to another 20+years with an outstanding nursery.

Mark is a Past President of both the Oklahoma Nursery and Landscape Association and the Western Nursery and Landscape Association. Awards and honors include; FFA Chapter Farmer from Allen OK, Distinguished Horticulture Alumnus from Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma Nursery and Landscape Association Green Industry Professional award, and Western Nursery and Landscape Association State Association Leader award.

Our inventory is sparse on some items. Please note the size of the plants and how rooted perennials are before placing your orders. It has been challenging to keep online inventory up to date but it is still updated every week day before we close.
